Brainstorm (Tabu-RCA/CBS records), 1976-1978, winner of Billboard Magazine Light Radio/ Heavy Disco Record of the Year 1978; IDMR Detroit choir, 1979-present; Earl Van Dyke; Delbert Nelson (who performs with the Funk Brothers); Trenita Womack (who performs with the Funk Br.); Ortheia Barnes; McKinley Jackson; Cleveland Horne (of the Fantastic Four); Donna Curtin (with the Funk Br.); Nature; Ron DiPalma; Dr. Teddy Harris Jr.; Marcus Belgrave; Deblon Jackson; Sons; Carolyn Crawford, of Motown records; Hubie Crawford; Soupy Sales and Scatman Crothers; John Amore; Marcus Terry (my first pro recording session, a tune about Evel Knievel and his famous jump—good for $90.00); pianist Tom Powers; Jimmy Hunter; Mark R. Kent (now with his own CD, The Boy from Skibberdeen); Some Mickey Mouse Band, 1973 (yes, that’s the name; Al, the drummer, had a real knack for keeping this cover band working for a decent wage...still with us, Al? Flash update– Yes, he and Paul and Mark are still around), 1973; The Jerry Kent Conspiracy, 1974 (his last official effort at being a pop vocalist); Nickels and Dimes (of Atlanta, GA.), 1972; Dallas Hodge and Salvage, 1971; Air Hammer, 1971; Mike Darian and Art Moross, 1971 (playing “Born to be Wild” and “Feeling Alright?” 4 times a night for $25/night); scores of other artists and vocalists he can’t remember. He appeared on Soul Train in April of 1977.(He still has the Sony U-matic tapes). Brainstorm’s music was featured in the Mike Meyers movie ”Studio 54”.
Gerald has been part of the following tours and concert venues: Isley Brothers and Teddy Pendergrass (1978); Marvin Gaye (1978); the Jacksons (1977 and 1978); Rose Royce (1978); Brothers Johnson (1977): Sister Sledge (same); Edgar Winter’s White Trash and Canned Heat (1971); Iron Butterfly, Grande Ballroom, 1968. He appeared at Olympia Stadium, Detroit (now gone); Apollo Theater, Harlem; Cobo Arena and Hall; Ford Auditorium (great venue, now unused); Hart Plaza, Detroit; P-jazz, Detroit (1981); arenas throughout the U.S; countless halls, gyms, coffee houses, clubs, bars, dives, frat parties, dances, weddings, back yards, basements; his first pro job was a junior high dance in St. Clair Shores in 1967, for $5.00, playing soul hits and Beatles; the band was the “Fourth Flight”.
